Aura Financial is an ambitious European FinTech startup challenging traditional banking structures. They aim to provide digital-first nomads and expats with a unified financial hub for multi-currency holding, instant peer-to-peer transfers, and transparent exchange rates.
Aura’s initial prototype relied on third-party, legacy banking APIs that resulted in unacceptable latency (sometimes taking up to 8 seconds just to refresh a balance). Furthermore, their account creation process was heavily manual and cumbersome, leading to a massive 65% user drop-off rate before onboarding was even completed. They needed a lightning-fast application with a highly intuitive, trust-inspiring user experience.
We engineered a custom GraphQL middleware layer using Go (Golang), which aggregated data from multiple banking partners seamlessly, completely bypassing the legacy bottlenecks. On the frontend, we designed a pixel-perfect React Native application. By integrating an advanced third-party AI for document verification, we streamlined the onboarding flow from a tedious 15-minute process down to just 3 minutes.
